What is Transpersonal Hypnotherapy?

The word transpersonal means extending beyond the individual or person. Transpersonal incorporates not just the mind and body but also the spiritual essence.

In the psychotherapy world, transpersonal psychology takes a more holistic approach, addressing mental, physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual needs, emphasizing the role of a healthy spirit in healing.

So then, what is Transpersonal Hypnotherapy? Transpersonal Hypnotherapy is a type of hypnotherapy that is a natural extension of transpersonal psychology in that it helps an individual overcome blocks and reach a transformation with a focus on spiritual potential and personal mastery.

There are many types of Hypnotherapy, and Transpersonal Hypnotherapy is one that includes a variety of healing modalities within the practice of hypnosis.

Most people are not aware that there are different types of Hypnotherapy. (I was not aware of this when I sought a hypnotherapist for my healing, so if it’s the same for you, you’re not alone.)

Why I chose Transpersonal Hypnotherapy to help others heal.

A few years ago, when I sought to heal through Hypnotherapy, I went to two different hypnotherapists: TimeLine Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Hypnotherapy.

And honestly, it was incredible to work with each in my healing. However, with each one, I reached an end. Meaning I needed more at one point, but each was limited to their hypnotherapy modalities.

When I chose to become a Hypnotherapist, I searched for a hypnosis modality that is as holistic as possible and works with the mind, body, and spirit.

Because of my personal experience, I sought a more holistic and encompassing way of using Hypnotherapy to help others heal.

I did months of research and it led me to Transpersonal Hypnotherapy. I knew instinctually, and with every fiber of my being, it was the healing modality I was to learn.

I believe you are unique, and there isn’t one way-fits-all approach to your healing. Transpersonal Hypnotherapy allows for a blend of modalities specific to your healing needs.

What happens during a Transpersonal Hypnotherapy session?

If you’re not familiar with hypnosis, let me tell you that while in hypnosis, you are in a trance-like state with heightened focus and concentration.

You’re in complete control of yourself while in hypnosis, and no one can make you do anything that you don’t want to do while in a trance-like state. I’m saying this if you’ve seen performative hypnosis where someone barks like a dog or walks around like a chicken. That’s done entirely for entertainment.

So, let’s go now into your session using Transpersonal Hypnotherapy. You first begin by sharing your story, your goal for the session, and what you desire to achieve. Then, through our discussion, I begin to pull from the modalities of Transpersonal Hypnotherapy to present to you a suggested hypnosis experience.

In a Transpersonal Hypnotherapy session with me, you will then experience the trance-like state, and the experience is facilitated by me as your Hypnotherapist, based on the healing outcome we are achieving during the session.

After the session, we integrate it using a cognitive technique, and then schedule your next session to continue your healing. Most people experience a release and relief in each session.

It is very common that at 2-3 sessions, you feel a significant difference in your healing and ability to begin creating your desired life. And to fully integrate, you may choose to do a couple more sessions to achieve your outcome fully.

So, for example, the first session might be Shadow Work, then another session connects you to your Inner Archetypes. The following session might be Past Life Regression, and the last session a Circle Integration.

The point is that it is customized to your needs.

And while 4-6 sessions might seem like a lot, keep in mind that the same results with talk therapy would take at least 22+ sessions to achieve your desired outcome (based on a study by Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D in which the results were first published on Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, and Practice (Spring, 1970).
