Making Your Own Facial Toner

FACIAL TONER GISELLE BAUMET

Making your own toner is one of the easiest ecobeauty skincare products to make. Toners are ideal for oily skin to reduce pores but also for dry skin (as well as oily) it can be refreshing and restore pH balance.

While there are amazing natural beauty products available, here are two basic recipes to get you started in making your own toner.

Botanical Toner for Oily and Combination Skin Toner

Recipe makes 4 oz of toner and best stored in dark colored glass bottle.

  • 3/4 part Witch Hazel
  • 1/4 part Aloe Vera Juice
  • 10 drop of Lavender Essential Oil
  • 10 drops of Sandalwood Essential Oil (balances oil production)

Mix all ingredients well and store in glass bottle. Shake well before using. This toner does not need to be refrigerated but should be to store away from direct light.

Herbal Toner for Dry and Sensitive Skin

Recipe makes 4 oz of toner and best stored in dark colored glass bottle.

  • 8oz of distilled water
  • 1 – 1 1/2 tablespoon of elder flowers
  • 10 drop of Lavender Essential Oil

Make an elder flower decoction by simmering in a saucepan the water and elder flowers until reduced by half. Once cooled strain the herb until there are no particles of the herbs left in the decoction. Pour the decoction into your glass bottle and add 10 drops of lavender oil. Mix well and store in refrigerator for a week. To be able to store it outside of the refrigerator add 2 oz of vegetable glycerin. Always mix your herbal products well before use.
