Homemade Chocolate and Honey Lip Gloss Recipe

Chocolate and Honey Lip Gloss

Ecobeauty is a must to avoid all those yucky chemicals and toxics (check out the EWG Skin Deep Cosmetics Database to learn more)  in so many of today’s cosmetics. I personally am a fan of Evolue in Los Angeles (and always a special guest at Granola Babies) eco-beauty products since my friend and owner Jean truly knows and researches everything there is to know about ecobeauty.  And while I do have a few lovely things from Evolue, I’m also a DIY junkie too. And today was such a day.

In about 10 minutes I made two Chocolate and Honey Lip Gloss – one for me and one for my daughter. She’s absolutely loving that her new lipgloss has a little color. It’s actually a just barely there chocolate color…but it’s enough to make a little girl giddy that it’s there. For me, it’s absolutely perfect – natural color, natural shine.

Chocolate and Honey Homemade Lip Gloss

  • 2 tbsp organic avocado oil and/or  jojoba oil (or 1 tbsp of each)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin organic olive oil
  • About 1 tbsp of beeswax
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 1/4 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp vitamin E

In a double boiler (I use a sauce pan and a glass bowl) melt the beeswax in the  avocado/jojoba oil, and olive oil. Then add the honey and stir well. Next add the cocoa powder and vitamin E (that’s your preservative) and mix well. Carefully pour your mixture into a container (I prefer and highly recommend avoiding plastic here. Go with tins or glass – great time to reuse small glass containers with this recipe). Let it dry completely and shine those beautiful lips with your new Chocolate and Honey Lip Gloss.
