How to Talk to Your Kids About Racism

Learn how to talk to your kids about racism.

"We learn to be racist, therefore we can learn not to be racist. Racism is not genetical. It has everything to do with power.
-- Jane Elliot
"

You may be thinking, "Oh, but I do, I tell my kids that we are all the equal and that we need to love everyone."

And that's good! But, it's not enough when it comes to teaching children about racism. It fails to cover in a comprehensive way the realities of racism, as well as creating empathy, understanding and action in our future generation. Discussions on racism must go far beyond "We see every one the same."

In this workshop you'll learn:

  • Why talking about racism is important for children today
  • When to start discussing racism with children
  • How to start and suggested language to use
  • How to continue the discussion as an ongoing part of parenting
  • Resources for parents
  • Recommended books for children
